Walk of Remembrance 2022

walk of remembrance

Rosedale Funeral Home is inviting families who have lost a loved one to join them again this year for their annual Walk of Remembrance.

This year two walks will be taking place – in Beccles and Diss – on Sunday 22nd May at 11 am.

The walk is an opportunity to remember a loved one whilst enjoying the beautiful scenery on a memorable day. The walk offers a time of reflection as well as acts of remembrance and is a way for the staff at Rosedale to give something back to families we have looked after, and let them know that they are never far from our thoughts as well as supporting others who are bereaved in our local community, no matter how long ago their loss.

Everyone is warmly invited to join us, all are welcome. You do not have to be a family we have looked after at Rosedale, if you would like to remember a loved one, we hope to see you there. Please feel free to bring along your family and friends including four legged friends, so we can all take the time together to remember those we have lost. Our 2022 Walks – Sunday 22nd May

Diss

Following one minute of silence, a dove release will mark the start of the walks, which begins at 11 am from The Mere, Diss.

Each walk offers the opportunity to visit St Mary’s Church, where a special ‘Book of Remembrance’ will be in place in which a message can be written and there will be an opportunity to light a candle.

There will be a choice of two circular routes around the market town of Diss and the surrounding countryside: a three mile walk and a shorter route of one mile. The new longer route will incorporate the local village of Palgrave and the River Waveney.

“The walk is an opportunity to remember a loved one whilst enjoying the beautiful local scenery on what we hope will be a memorable spring day,” says Christian Fairbrother, Funeral Director at Rosedale Diss. “Please feel free to bring along your family and friends including four legged friends, so we can all take the time together to remember those we have lost. The Walks of Remembrance are a way for the staff at Rosedale to give something back to our families, and to let you know that you are never far from our thoughts as well as supporting those who are bereaved in our local community.”

Beccles

There will be two circular routes again this year, a 3 mile walk and a shorter route of one mile which will both take you around Beccles Marshes.

After a 1 minute silence has been acknowledged, a dove release will mark the start of the walks at 11.00am from the Information Point on the Quay. Following the walk, everyone is invited to join us for refreshments where there will be a special Book of Remembrance for families to leave a message and the opportunity to light a candle.

“The Walk of Remembrance is a way for us here at Rosedale to give back to the many families that we have looked after but it is also open to anyone who has been bereaved of a loved one,” said Lucy Coote, Funeral Administrator at Rosedale. “We hope that the whole family will come along and enjoy the popular Beccles Marshes walks, take in their peaceful surroundings and see the abundance of wildlife on the edge of this charming Waveney market town as well as offering families and individuals the opportunity and time to reflect and remember their loved ones.”
